Girl Scouts of America
Girl Scouts troops have been active at Ardmore UMC for more than 60
years. We are part of the Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont Girl Scout Council
and Service Unit 141. The Girl Scout mission is to build courage,
confidence and character in girls to make the world a better place.
We have Daisy (Kindergarten/1st Grade), Brownie (2 nd /3 rd Grades), Junior
(4 th /5 th Grades), Cadette (6 th /7 th /8 th Grades), Senior (9 th /10 th Grades) and
Ambassador (11 th /12 th Grades) troops at Ardmore, each planning their
own activities. The girls participate in troop and service unit activities and
events, having fun and earning badges/patches for their work on these
activities. The girls enjoy a variety of activities including discussing
contemporary issues and careers, camping/hiking, traveling to
Savannah,GA and Girl Scout World Centers, doing service projects for the
church and community, exploring science and technology with STEAM
activities, sewing and making crafts, learning life skills and creating
activities of interest to them. Our girls sell cookies, candy, nuts and
magazines to earn money for the troop and to earn scholarship money
for camp, as well as individual prizes. Juniors work together to earn the
Bronze Award, Cadettes earn the Silver Award and the
Seniors/Ambassadors earn the Gold Award, all of which involve their
leadership skills and hard work.
